Default Bowden Cable on Auto Trannys, Damage to tranny is left unconnected?

All,

If one disconnects the bowden cable on an auto tranny, is there any damage to the tranny that can result? the reason I ask this is because if one does this on a Ford AOD tranny for example, you will tear the tranny up real quick because the Ford AOD uses the bowden cable to regulate the pressure in the tranny for the shifts...Meaning if you disconnect the cable and floor the gas the tranny still thinks there is little load on the drivetrain and will allow slushy shifts and thus allow the clutches and bands to burn up in short order. I have never heard of this on the 928 auto and am wondering if the bowden cable has a different function for our trannys. Thanks!
The question has been bugging me for a while, but this recent thread about dynoing the auto 928 https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/465459-dyno-procedure-for-a-928-auto-tranny.html prompts the thread.

It kind of works the same way, and the tranny will slip. And yes, trans failure will follow.

You could just bring it here and Kevin could drop a bolt in it for ya and you wouldn't have to worry about it any more!

(He's good at dropping them in intakes, too. )

Bowden Cable-Control Pressure Cable.

The WSM states:
"Note:
Correct adjustment of the Bowden cable for control pressure is vitally impeotant for faultless operation of the transmission.

Adustment:
1. Set idle speed
2. Take up play in throttle cable
3. Adjust shperical head of control cable until cable can be installed without strain".

Generally More tension = later shifts, lest tension = early shifts.. If you adjust later shifts, it is not comfortable driving due to the firm shifts and you will experience a jolt when shifting between P, R or N into a forward gear.

This control valve regulates the working pressure within the transmission, so I would not operate the vehicle with the bowden cable disconnected.

This is kind of what I figured. If this is the case, then no way I am gonna disconnect the bowden cable. Anyone else got any other ideas?
