Alternator fix comment
I read a couple of recent posts about the exciter circuit fix and have been fighting this problem for about six months. then I read that the teminal is #1 of a plug located next to the jump post. Well today I cleaned the entire plug and low and behold all of the entire dash trouble work!!! My alternator would not excite until I reved the car to over 2000 rpm's and then charge properly thereafter. This was annoying but not a big deal. However whenever I would statr the car and a wet day or after washing the car my alternator light would come on and the alternator would charge as soon as the car was started. had checked the wire for continuity (sp) (no spell check on this computer, sorry)
So I clean all the terminals in the plug and it works, so cool!!! So thanks to all for helping me for this problem, I owe you all a beer. If you are ever in the Seattele area email me and I am buying!! Mark

I will add a few more words. Fit a hot post cover, for extra you can cut a piece of inner tube and drape it ove the wire harness then fit the cover.,make a small hole for the rubber to fit over the hot post.
Unless you hit the post with a direct spray the wires stay dry./
A hot post cover from a 1988 will work fine, if you dont have th threaded stud you will need one as well as the threaded hot post stud cover
