Question Cam Sensor(s)

Hi guys & girls

Does the 32V engine have such a thing? And if not, how hard would it be to fit?

The reason I`m asking is that I plan to use a DTA S80 engine management system with "Coil per sylinder" configuration, and the factory say I must have cam sensors to do that. Any of you BTDT? BTW, the S80 can use both hall and magnetic sensors.

There's a hall sensor mounted on the right cam tower.

Hej Ketil,

here's some pics from a 16v supercharged 928 engine in a car for sale a couple of years ago here in Sweden with an after market fuel ignition control system and as you can see they have added their own sensors to the camgears.

And please ignore the incorrectly installed cam bealt, it was discussed already back then:-)

/Peter

You can use the stock 928 hall sensor for the cam position with the S80.

I use it with my DTA Pro8

Hey guys !

Sorry for the late replay, and thanx a lot for your input

I`ve been WAY too busy the last 2 months but I hope there will be some time to spend in here, and out in the tent

The 16V looks sweet Peter !

Good to know that I can use the standard hall sensor Aryan

John, I`m really happy to here you are using the DTA Pro8. Is one hall sensor enough ?

Yep. Stock cam hall sensor works fine.

Anyone else notice the timing belt being placed underneath the waterpump pulley on this one?

He did say don't talk about that But really, if I never saw or worked on a 928 before I would think that the belt would go the same way. That idler gear is one of the stupidest things Porsche did on this engine. What a horrible stop-gap measure to augment a really bad design. Then there's the disabling of the tension light for a certain time until the engine warms up. Way too much bier when the tension system was designed
