Replacing Motor Mounts, Solid, Hyd??

Burning Brakes
I used the solid MM from Carl @ 928 Motorsports about 3 years ago and they are fine. When I pulled the engine this year (head gasket) I kept them as they looked great. If you are doing a intake refurb you could use the "speed mount" which is a solid piece of rubber that fits between the oil pan and the cross member. I used this for a year before doing the MM and it worked fine.

A lot of people get mixed up between hydraulic and solid. Anchor supplies both types under the same part number and the only way to tell the difference was to shake them. On the hydraulics you could hear the water sloshing inside. A lot of owners bought Anchor thinking they were all solid when in fact they were not.
I changed from Anchor to Corteco a long time back for this very reason plus the quality was much better.
Corteco has seperate part numbers for hyd. v solid.
Attached are pictures of x sections of hyd. and solid. As you see it is very easy to understand why hyd. fails (leakes and collapses) and solid does not.
I have never seen a failed solid MM and sold more than I care to remember.

I'm using solid engine mounts on the 84S track car; and have been for 2 years. Compared with my 89 5spd, it feels fine. For the price differential, I'd stick with the solids.

Thanks for the tips and confirmations, everyone. I'll find out what their specific beef was with the solid mounts when I pick up my intake-refreshed, steady-idling car from them this week. I can't wait!!
