Andre, your avatar is frightening. lol!
N9ice to hear such positive talk about the 78-79 cars.
I am trying not to be depressed that my first 928 has super low compression and significantly less horsepower than my 4-cylinder daily driver.
I'm hoping there are some affordable ways to unleash a few more ponies.
As far as the 78-79 US cams...are these in fact hotter than some of the others? From what I've read, these are paperweights that I should throw in the trash after buying the euro 16V cams. I'm cornfused!

I agree with the consensus here-- that the older cars are a better value and more smiles per mile. I owned a 5sp 81 comp package. At 225 hp, it was lighter, zippier, and livelier than my 316 hp auto S4. But the auto versus 5 speed debate is an entirely different keetle of feesh.

The auto vs standard is easy I let my friends drive the auto and I drive the standards myself. If my friends can handle driving the auto then I might considder letting them try a standard, plus my lady friends think its just amazing that I would let them drive my P car, it gets me in thier good books real fast. All silliness aside my auto is a great car to drive when you are tired after a long day at work, want to go on a lazy drive with the GF or know you will have to deal with alot of heavy traffic I would take it anywhere. BUT if I want to go out for a fun drive and be a little naughty the standards are my favs. The farthest I have been so far is from London to Hershy PA (about 10 hr drive) for the swap meet/show I try to go every year its like a dream to drive through the mointains to get there in my P car standard or auto.
