That's just plan weird. That 'third pin' appears on every diagram from '87 through to '94. There is no external third pin on the ISV though. None.

It's got a be a wiring diagram brain fart. There are plenty of those.

On 85/86 models all 3 pins are wired & both grounding IPs are driven from the LH.
The S3 ISVs 'rest' at 50% open with ground on one pin closing from 50 and ground on the other opening towards WFO. For S4s the rest state is open just a bit with ground driving to WFO. I have to wonder why the change was done. Ran out of wires on the S4 so they had to redesign the ISV?
