Default 928 shell weight?

How heavy is the shell of a 928 (86.5)? Can it be lifted by 4 or maybe 6 people onto a trailer? The shell is 90% bare, only extras left is the chasis wiring, some tubes, condenser, front windshield and that's about it. Everything else, including the bumpers are off.

OK, I give up! What the heck does someone *do* with an empty shell of a stripped 928?!

I'd guess you will need four people to comfortably carry it. I've carried an Opel GT and a Subaru Impreza with 3 and it was a stretch.

I had a shell on jackstands high enough to back a trailer underneath. We then used a come along and winched it on. Not hard

I've done it with 1 other, but it was tough. 4 would be easier

Thanks for the info guys...... just remembered that I have a 2000lb 12V winch laying aruond in the garage, might use it in case we can't carry it. Sounds like 4 people will be enough to safely lift it.

I'm not sure what the future of the shell will be but it would bake one heck of a targer for shootn'

That would have to be before the undercoating was put on.

I would say 4 would be the best, I have picked one up with 2 people and I thought the other fellow was going to die on me.

After removing the glass that's still in the shell I have, I'll be cutting the roof off & using it to restore my car to the way it came from the factory - non sunroof. A PO put a piece of crap aftermarket sunroof in mine.

I'm pretty sure that was an all aluminium body that was used in that poster. The regular, all steel production body has to be a lot heavier.
