maybe get rid of the grippy detailing on the sides, cause pucks have a near identical texture.
Whats wrong with the original cap? as far as factory oil caps go, i think the Porsche one is pretty good as is. Especially when cleaned with some abrasive solvent kitchen cleaner to make it appear as new.

Thats Knurling, used for grip. Did I say I was going to make the next out of Aluminum? We used the delrin to get the thread right. The factory cap looks like a Briggs & Stratton oil fill plug to me. To each his own.
The machinist and I made an oil fill cap at work, going to make another out of Aluminum. What do you think? Might put a Porsche crest in the middle.
Making it out of delrin is a great idea, might not get as hot as aluminum. I may do a run of mine in delrin on the next batch.
The Porsche Crest is also a good idea :-) Ours is sized perfectly for the Crest Decals Lefteris sells to fit into the recessed milled section where the 928 logo is machined.

I got one of those at Frenzy, give away, thanks!! I like mine BUT.. (always one of those around) when screwed on tight the 928 is upside down? If I back it off 1/2 turn it is far to loose. I tried numerous times to start to thread it at different points but it always ends up the same way, upside down.
Is there any way to make sure that they are loaded into the scribe or whatever in a uniform way so that the text doesn't end up upside down?
( Thinking out loud It was free, boo boo, maybe that's why? )
In DR's pic, I bought the lower left one with the crest. I agree with Brian, it does look like Briggs and Stratton designed the stock cap. I got mine at the Frenzy and didn't even know DR and Jeannie sold or even had these. Many people since have commented how my engine now looks "finished".
I don't like caps that absorb engine heat...but thats just me. I like the stock cap. All you have to do is paint them what ever color you like. Besides, youze guyzez caps don't say OEL ! hmmph!
I wouldn't mind a cap that looked like the wheels on my GTS
They are all milled exact, unfortunately the 928 filler necks are not due to wear and production variations over the years. On brand new S4/GTS filler necks it aligns perfectly everytime.
Since our oil cap uses the factory o-ring you could try using your old o-ring instead of the new one and see if it aligns better. Sort of like indexing spark plugs.
BTW, thanks again for all of your hard work on the Frenzy, it was appreciated by many!
