. Don’t lose that little c-clip in the process. [/QUOTE]
Great advice from Michael. You needn't ask me how I know!!!!
I spent at least an hour and a half over 3 days looking for it amongst an area with a lot of crushed rock stone. My wife accidentally found it, then couldn't spot it.. A day later she found it again.

I wanted to clarify that when I mentioned using the old cable as a pull string for the new cable, I only had to use Gorilla tape to fasten the front end of the new cable to the back end of the old cable. Pull on both ends of this cable Daisy-chain to make sure the foam that the old cable is contained within doesn’t create enough friction that the tape comes loose between the two.
further; make sure the new cable’s fastening end and the crank it attaches to are as aligned as possible. Watch how the cable may tend to pull away from where it attaches to the crank. If there is a wrong tension, then that little c-clip will have a lot of burden to contend with.

I did get the cable installed, pull was very easy, slid right in. In order to get the shifter assembly up and out, I needed to just push down harder towards the back of the assembly and pull up on the front, basically use more force.
I will tell you where not to use force, tightening the cable nuts in the rear. There is a retainer, "large C shape" bolted on the back of the trans for the main cable "sheath" and mine did not seem to want to stay in that C.
Fiddled with it for a while, could not find a picture as I think someone prior to me must have installed it backwards/upside down. As I was installing the cable I ended up snapping the cable. Great...Put too much torque on the nuts, which to be honest I really did not crank on it.
Time for a new cable, if I can get one...Good times ; ) Thanks for the help to be sure.
