Move the bolts on the sides of the hinges, and adjust the hood until it fits correctly.

Sometimes it needs to be shimmed.

Sometimes your car's bent.

A picture might help too.

Good luck.

Using two correct hood shocks of the same age helps, too.

As previously stated you can fit "E" shims to move the bonnet sideways in the hinge area which will move the whole bonnet sideways. These are easily cut from the appropriate shim thicknesses required.

You will also note that the securing set screws are in elongated holes which allow you to move the bonnet forward and aft and up and down. I find the best way to make any adjustment to these four directions is to 'just nip' up the set bolts to secure the bonnet and shut it and see how it fits. If too high a bump with the heel of your palm of your hand will be sufficient to move it into position. If you need to move it upwards, open bonnet and again use the bump technique and also if you need to move it forward or aft at either of the hinges.

When you have the bonnet aligned at the hinges then shut the bonnet to ascertain the allignment at the front and if necessary adjust hight by the rubber bumpers located at the front right and left hand corners of the engine bay of move it sideway by bumping it with the palm of you hand.

When correctly alligned tighten up the set bolt to designed torque specification.

what he said, but i dont install the hood shocks. They will force the hood out of alignement. Clsoe the hood as said but then i use paint stir sticks on the gaps to get them all even. They are about the same thickness as the gap needed actually. I then bumped/moved the hood around to get the correct fit. When done pop the hood...the spring will pop the hood for you, then lift the hood propping it up with somehting and tighten the bolts to spec. Install the shocks . Worked for me.

now for for more info if you take a hood shock with one hand and hold one end, press the other end into ground if it moves then its a HOOD shock
.....if you have a HATCH shock it will take both hands pressing to get it to move....( you should not ever put HATCH shocks on the hood) damage to any part of the hood can happen.
BUT if you have worn out hatch shocks then they can possibly be used for the HOOD just do the one hand test..
About hood alignment open the hood and remove the schocks, and the hood latch this will let you open and close at will without engaging the latch,,
BUT first before you do anything lubricate the hood hinges as they get sticky and make the hood not close properly
