The last part up front on my 82 is to connect my Steering rack to knuckle. I have the rack bolted in loose and for the life of me cannot get the two items to mate. Any help or tricks on this!

I usually loose fit one bolt on the right - just enough to secure the rack: you could also secure the left end with a loop of wire/tie-wrap, but let it droop 3"-4". The splines sould easily mate now, for you have created the "third hand" that is so often needed.
I prefer to center the rack by the dimple in the inspection port, tie the steering wheel dead level .... then lift the left end of the rack as close as possible to final position: by doing this, there is an excellent chance of getting the correct spline on the first attempt. Also, hand start the banjo bolts before bolting in the rack - the added flex minimizes risk of cross threading.

use new sealing washers to the rack otherwise it will probaby leak.
If the splined shaft still wont fit after following Garths method you might have to open the coupler with a screwdriver so it slides down over the rack use a tooth brush to clean the splines of the coupler and the rack
