I am about to do my uppers.................the only trick I have heard was the 2 pliers technique.
Be nice if they made a rounded circlip instead of that spring style.
Either way, post your success I am very curious!

I think I put the spring on the joint housing right at the bottom not in the groove (was there a groove ?) then put the boot on then lifted the end of the spring into to the groove in the boot and then workd around feeding the spring into the groove.

Grease the outside of the boot lightly: grip one end of the flat spring spiral, and feed it into the groove down over the boot - then, work the spring downward progressively. Once the first coil is in the groove, a small screwdriver under the spring helps wind the last coil into place ....
Punching a hole in the new boot with the screwdriver is considered a foul ..... and degrades your DIY licence to working on Chevs
