Default Windshield washer nozzles spitting

I've looked through the threads for something like this without success. My 87 S4 AT windshield washer nozzles (both sides) dribble/leak constantly causing moisture puddles on the hood. Eventually this leakage causes the washer fluid to escape triggering the washer fluid warning light on the dash. PO had the fluid topped off by the dealer in March of this year and I haven't used the system more than twice in 3 months of ownership. I wouldn't expect to go through so much fluid. I recently topped off and the problem continues. Any ideas?

Puzzled as to how there could be pressure to do this if pump isn't running. the tank is low and the fluid isn't going UP w/o help. And if it is the pump, why doesn't it just run it dry and burn up? Might pull Relay IX and/or fuse 25 (intensive washer). I don't see anything labeled windshield washer pump by itself on the diagrams. It must be tied to something else, possibly the intesive washer????

did anyone modify the washer filler neck - as in seal it up better somehow? - sounds like pressurization of the tank due to heating coupled (possibly) with faulty check valve that allow air to get sucked back into the lines when the pressure reverses on cooling...

Just an idea...

The cap itself is cracked and just sits loosely on the tank. Not sure if this makes a difference.

Then your loss of washer fluid could be due to that poorly fitting cap alone...?

Do you have an intensive tank? - have you been filling that one up too - how does that one seal up - try leaving its cap off....
