Default Rear shocks

Just a quick question. After a Dallas GTG a couple months ago I found out that the rear of my car has way to much spring to it. Sean and I talked about it and he seems to think it's shocks. Here's my question. Can rear shocks go out so bad that it appears that they are not even there? Is there anything else that could cause such a bad rebound? On a normal car I would say without a doubt that it's the shocks but on these the suspenion is much more complicated and I just want to make sure before I buy the shocks. What you guys got on this? Jason

if your rear is bounding up and down when you hit a small bump then you need to replace the rear shocks, also you should consider doing the front as well for a balanced car.
You will need a 4 wheel alignment after the fronts are done.

Will I need an alignment if I do the rears first?

you can replace just rears, they are easier to replace then the fronts but you should do all of them

If you replace the rears only you will notice that you want the fronts done too. But after driving yours, def get the rears done, it will make it way better.

I think I can safely say that any of our cars that have more than 50k on the shocks can benefit from shock replacement. Shocks, like brain cells, deteriorate slowly over time. Unlike brain cells**, however, shocks can be fairly easily replaced. Even replacement of old stock Boge shocks with new Boge shocks will make a noticeable improvement in ride and handling.

In my limited experience.

** Local customs aside, alcohol is not a suitable long-term replacement for brain cells.

The absolute best thing I did to my S4 was replace the factory original shocks with Bilsteins and had the ride height adjusted and an alignment done. It made the car drive and fell completely different. It was expesnive, but worth every penny. It had it done by a 928 wrench and turned out perfect. I would recommend getting fronts done at the same time.
