Mike Frye; You inspire me (fuel line replacement - rv)
Well after reading Mike Frye's post on rubber fuel line refresh and top of engine refresh, I was inspired.............well maybe only halfway inspired to asses my rubber fuel lines
Having the 16v engine this seemed like a pretty easy task, at least more so then the 32v.
So armed with hoses and clamps I went at it this morning!
Look at these hoses!!! The short one was not too bad, but the longer hoses that makes a U was just wrecked!!! Cracked and even tore as I removed it!!! Pretty scary stuff...........so I owe Mike Frye a huge thank you, as if this was not addressed soon, we may have had another crispy shark!!!
Also huge thanks to Roger Tyson..........for taking my call at 8 am in the morning to ask him "what is the trick to sliding the new hose on the inlet line?", well that is simple young man...........use a lube, oh sure my wife is bound to have some KY in the dresser drawer
No silly............dish soap, well thanks ROG, that dish soap did the trick and the hoses slid right on!!! Without your advise I might have been out the for hours tugging on that line!!!
So............if you own a 16v and your rubber fuel hoses are original, I suggest changing them.
