Default Grrrrr - start, die... start, die...

The paint guy came out today to roll-back my 82 to his paint barn (as I have no seats - or any interior really in it) and I got a no start. Funny thing is that my daughter and I were sitting in it last week listining to it run after the fuel strainer seal R&R.

Looks like I'll be testing/jumping the pump and injector relays when I can get another minute this week.

Just when a little progress seems to be taking shape, these little annoying Shark things swim up and bite you in the ***. Thanks for letting me vent.

need more info, does it crank and not start? did the car get wet sitting outside? did you try to hold the pedal to the floor whilst cranking( might be flooded)

No, not outside. It's in the garage. It starts up and then immediately dies. Ran great a week ago and hasn't moved. Only thing I did was take out the seats and remove the O2 counter (which I read should have no affect).

I did a search and read about jumping the injector and pump relays... It's just weird that it was a yes and then no situation.

Does your 928 have an alarm system?
Have you checked your oil level?
When you put your hand onto your fuse panel, are any of your relays either hot or clicking rapidly?
Are any of your vacuum hoses disconnected (e.g. brake booster)?
What voltages are you showing on your dash prior to starting with ignition on, then while starting and before dying, then after the engine is dead?

Does your 928 have an alarm system? Nope

Have you checked your oil level? Full

When you put your hand onto your fuse panel, are any of your relays either hot or clicking rapidly? Nope

Are any of your vacuum hoses disconnected (e.g. brake booster)? All connected

What voltages are you showing on your dash prior to starting with ignition on, then while starting and before dying, then after the engine is dead? I'll have to get back to y'all on this one. I haven't hads time to check voltages yet.

THANK YOU for the replies!

Check the resistors that feed the ignition coil. If one has burned out or has corroded wiring, you could lose power when the ignition switch is moved back to the run position. i.e. start...die.

Would his dash warning lights be On in the "test" mode if that's not the problem, but Off if it is his problem and he's lost power going back to Run from Start?

What he said.
Mine would die as soon as I let the key go and it went to the 'run' position.
Put some De-Oxit on the connector to the resistors and that fixed it.

run a jumper wire from the jump post over to the coil....small + post that powers up the coil with a full 12 V see if the car runs BUT do this only for a short time it is too much voltage for the coil ! The oil level has NOTHING TO DO with it starting they will start with zero oil ! The voltage on the dash is irrelevant ...if there is power to crank the starter there is power to run the engine besides the engine does fire and run it just stops ! It is very possible that it is starting on the cold start injector the 9 th injector and the fuel injection brain is not firing the injectors.
