I got back at 3AM this morning after a fun drive back from NC. I had a ball driving the 928, and the miles flew by. I had a nice break in the beginning of the trip with David and his lovely family.

As I had never driven one before, I was beginning to question the logic of my unstoppable determination to own a 928. While I realize that my long-standing dream of finally having one was quite powerful, my common sense was throwing its hands up in the air. Luckily, any doubt was erased very quickly after throwing down the clutch the first time. What a load of fun! And it absolutely rides on rails. So what if it's a lot noisier than my Cayenne, and not quite as quick, I clearly enjoyed driving it immensely.

Unfortunately, I had a couple of minor issues prior to purchasing, but these were easily remedied. Once I hit the road north-bound, I felt the same freedom and joy that I remembered after driving home after I graduated college.

Naturally, all my excitement had to end sometime. I came home from a very long soccer trip with my twins. I couldn't believe it when I pulled into the driveway - my wife had left her minivan outside the garage. The 928 was in the Cayenne's spot, and she had SO graciously given her spot to my Cayenne. What a woman! Of course I took the opportunity to pull into the garage. Then, BOOM! My son throws open his door, and I could see it as if in slow motion ... the door momentum is stopped only by the 928's passenger door. UGH. A double banger, in that both doors got nicked. Curiously enough, I had to keep reminding myself of what I had told David's wife yesterday about my kids and my cars. I try not to get upset if they do any damage, because I'll have many cars, but only one set of sons. I've continued to say that to myself all night, but I have a bleeding tongue now from the many times I've had to bite it.

Oh well. Still love looking and driving the car. I live in a "suburb" of a small city, so nothing goes unnoticed. I can feel the eyes checking out the strange new car zooming by.

I'll try to post some pics when the weather improves.
