Default Resistor pack - old vs new

I just installed a new resister pack in the '82. It has a part number of 928 616 101 00 which I think is the updated pack.

My question is; do I need to change the contact recepticles on the switch cover.

When I move the vent slide from off, I get full fan speed through the defroster vents with the fan **** still turned off.

Thanx for any help.

Check the Nichols tips. I the Ed Ruiz (?) has a detail of how to rewire the connector for the new resistor pack. I followed his steps and it worked fine.

I checked Nichols but I must have missed it. I'll look again, thanks.

I found a write up that says remove terminal #8 and move #6 to #8 but I'm not sure how to number the terminals.

Try:
http://www.nichols.nu/tip022.htm
down at the bottom of the page, second to last paragraph. My memory was off a little.

Yup, that's the one I found. I also found the numbers on the old pack, so I'll give that a try.

It sounds hard but worked fine. Good luck.

OK, eliminated #8 and moved #6 to #8 and the fan now works as advertized on all four speeds.

However, the center vent does not open now, and the air stays directed through the defroster vents.

Finally! After recycling everything, all systems are go, as designed.
