...but I went with the stock Porsche door arresters. I've already got to take off the interior panels on the door anyway because I've been finding unmentionable "presents" in my law-enforcement-seized vehicle in various compartments.
Ugh. So I've got to open up *everything* and then go hunting (just to be sure).

Today I rewired the speakers so that the left/right balance and front/rear fade works. Hurray!
I changed out the little tiny blub in the ash tray, and then watched in wonder as my cell phone charger shorted out and smoked up my car (for once, no fault of the car, I hope!).
I checked my windshield, and it has the little wire in it for a windshield antenna, but I still haven't found the cable that goes from the windshield into my radio.
Speaking of which...my Blaupunkt cd player is having trouble driving all 8 speakers. It cuts out if I raise the volume above 3/4 of MAX. There's no amp in the car, though there's some obvious wiring where some prior owner had a large amp in the rear hatch area (ain't there no more, though!).
Also installed two new Pioneer 4" speakers in the doors to replace the failing Alpine speakers that were there.
Added some Lucas upper cylinder lube to the gas tank today, too.

Installed a wide but short/thin rearview mirror today. Much better front vision due to less windshield being blocked. I was able to move the set point up almost 2 inches above the factory OEM location, with the visors still being able to open/close fully (barely).
depending on how you wired the speakers up, you may have hooked them up in parallel thus decreasing the impedance of the load and causing too much current to flow. This will cause the amp in the stereo to not like you.

Thanks. Definitely the far rear two speakers and back seat 2 speakers are wired in parallel, so I need to remedy that as you hint above.
And if you did it right, it sould also eliminate your blind spot.
here is a video that explains exactly how to do it

*no OEM amp under the passenger carpet box, and no aftermarket amp in the rear hatch area, though there is cut wiring from an obvious stereo system that must have filled the rear hatch area at one time.
this thread is fantastic!
One of my favorites of the year. Very impressed so far. And very curious about your, ahem, presents. I always assumed police searched what they sold before selilng it. So... technically the police who sold you the car are drug dealers (sans scienter)!
