That happens every time we leave or return home. Even get to decorate the tires with cow poo when their in the northwest pasture.

We do our best to miss it but when we don't we drive a Poorsche.

Just wanted to extend an invite to the gang. Does not look like there will be a formal tour of the Morrison collection so if any of you guys are interested in an after hours affair just let me know and I am sure we can work something out.

I guess Cedar Park is about 35 miles due East of Marble Falls on a VERY FUN (but highly patrolled and usually pretty busy on weekends) road Hwy 1431. I am .75 miles south of Hwy 1431 off of Parmer Lane. SUPER easy to get to from MF.

Anyway, just thought I would throw a friendly invite out there for my hommies.

If I don't see you guys be careful but have fun!

James, maybe we could get a few cars and meet at your place before heading out to Marble Falls one morning. Its been a while since I've run lime creek.

Dang James,

I thought we were heading your way again. Was a great time last time we were there.

Edited, forgot we were doing a new route this year. Opps.

Sean,

Take it up with Jim. He believes there are to many lights and not fun roads apparently between MF and my house 34 miles away. Though we now have Parmer lane (aka Ronald Regan Prkwy) open all the way out to Hwy 29 and beyond) so there are good ways to get to my place from the north that were not available last time.

I was all ready to host a nice lunch again but Cest la vie.

Ben, the problem with the morning stop is I have church (I play guitar so they hate it when I am not there!) Sunday early AM, and you guys will need to be in MF earlier on Saturday than I would be willing to get up and host you here... I mean if you wanted to spend an hour here you would have to be here by 7AM and I will still be asleep then!

Unless a group wanted to peel off after lunch from the main pack and head my way from wherever you are (or if we did Dinner here instead of lunch...which is fine with me too) there is no really good way work me into the schedule.

I was looking forward to the group, but that is ok. You guys will have a blast anyway!

I just remember being there on my 1st 3rd coast.

I knew you talked about hosting a BBQ during that weekend but had no idea when or if it was on the sched. I do know we are going on a different driving route this year.

Why are you not coming up for some of the activities? It's not that far away buddy. Am looking forward to seeing you again, please do make it up and hang with us for a while.

James,
Your going to miss the Third Coast event 35 miles from your house? You get the prize for being the closest 8>)
Can we come by and pick you up - would that help? I would be honored for you to ride shot gun with me.
Roger

WOW James,

34 miles away and you can't find the time to come to Marble Falls ??? I'm sorry we will miss you! BTW I've never said anything like
"Take it up with Jim. He believes there are to many lights and not fun roads apparently between MF and my house 34 miles away."
When we started doing this it was because the Austin/Houston group lost interest in doing the planning and execution of the GTG. We've done essentially everything by group consensus. The group being the DFW guys who meet every month. I led the group tour two years, Roger one year and we're trying to get Chuck to lead it this year; so no one person sets any of the agenda! We try to do something a little different every year. Last year we had a track day at Motorsport Ranch (completly different than all past years) this year we're going to do a wine tasting session sans driving, and maybe a visit to a Texas winery. Two years ago we did lunch at your place and that was great, but we've done it once already, time to move on. This year it was suggested to do lunch in Luckenbach to get to some different roads.

Sorry we put a burr under your saddle, but, you can take your ball and go home, or you can get involved with the planning for next year; or . . . the Austin group can take it over again, because quite frankly it takes a lot of time and effort on the GROUP's part.

There was no problem with the roads year before last. I thought the drive was really good. There was a bit of traffic which made it difficult to keep the group together. But we probably drove 200 plus miles total on the twisties and back roads on the way to and from Jame's house.

The distance/location isn't the issue. Its just that the group decided to go in another direction in a concerted effort to increase the number of attendees to the event. I want to thank my wife from the deepest depths of my being for getting totally involved in this endeavor. She has been instrumental in putting the flyer together for this year, scheduling alternate events, creating post cards for mail out, ect.....

Jim,

No offense taken...it was put in your lap incorrectly then. I had been informed that you were planning the route and it would not be anywhere near here... No biggie on my end. Just means I won't have to clean up the garage beyond its normal state of clean. No biggie for me at all, I have a gathering of 928's every time I go out to the garage! LOL!

I may make dinner on Friday night, but that is up in the air right now. Driving that road at night with my vision all messed up would not be on my list of fun or wise things to do. They (Retina specialist) say the eye will heal, but it is still not good 3 weeks out now...

As for Saturday, I just don't do the big drives anymore. I don't find them enjoyable. I'd rather go out with 3 or 4 folks vs. 20 or 30. Not to mention I'd have to get up at dark 30 to make it anyway.

Saturday night is out because I already have to be up at dark 30 on Sunday to play guitar... Again that whole eye thing puts that up in the air too.

And that leads to Sunday... Out because I am playing guitar at church...as usual.

Maybe next year...

Jim, I know it takes a lot of time to set this up (I've done if for our local PCA group more than a few times), but don't be confused here...the Austin 928 group NEVER did this event or any other event like it and I don't recall that when we were blowing and going down here we ever had ANYONE (other than Sterling of course) come down here to play with us. Sterling did set up a nice GTG up there back 11 years ago and I came to that with one or two guys from here I think...it was at Ali's place...can't remember the name now.

We have been on the ropes here for quite some time. All the old guard except me and Jim Stadter are out of 928's completely and Jim and I have been busy with other things in our lives till recently for me anyway, so I am just trying to get rolling here again. Hope to get the Austin group back up and running, but no one is jumping up to do ANYTHING. In fact I think there are only what four Austin guys on this list even... I know of three more not on the list but fairly active with 928's, but still not much happening.

I have offered to have GTG's, lunches, dinners, whatever and NOTHING...

If anyone gets the urge to stop by and check out Blue82 in person sometime that weekend then just give me a shout, I think I am around most of the weekend... If the eye heals up I'll see you guys on Friday night.

We don't have to wait till next year. Just post a GTG at your place thread and I can guarantee that you will have a caravan of DFW 928's headed down South....no special occasion needed.

Has everyone marked their calendars?

Gonna unstick this one for now.

Remind me a couple weeks before the event and we can put it back up.

Jim & James:
That would be the College Station - Harlingen - Woodlands crowd, AKA Don, Mad Max & Donald the first two years. First year I begged, pleaded & threatened the DFW-928 group to no success so most attendees were Austin/Houston based, and the HCR PCA kindly sponsored us to make it an official, thus insured, event.

Glad the yankees have taken it on and done such a great job, I should have time to help out next year, but will continue to miss Einstein's
Just booked rooms for this year, only need to get a few odd pieces wedged into the front of the 928 and see if the frame is cold-welded to the Por'ken liftbars.
Cheers,
