Ike update--are my fellow south Texas 928 owners OK?
finally online for a minute----on generator power (I am my own power company now, with my two generators powering ten homes).
How are the rest of you doing near me (Houston/Galveston/SE Texas)....???
Here's my update:
no damage at my house per se, but Kingwood got slammed by at least 3 tornadoes (probably more by some estimates) and 110-mph winds. Our subdivision was hit pretty good, with trees on/in houses and property damage all around. Damage south of us is very extensive- maybe you've seen the news....
no power here for 4 days now---may not get power for weeks (worst est.), may get power in a few days (better est.).
Gas was a huge problem until today, but very long lines and limits on purchasing.
Food is OK, plenty beer to go around, and lots of toilet paper (whew...that's a good thing).
No Shark damage, no damage to my backyard boneyard.....
Our trucks will be up and running our butts off in the relief effort tomorrow.
I hope my fellow 928er's are OK and.......
Prayers to all----

We haven't seen a post by Rob Roy yet. I worry about you guys. Thanks for posting largecar.
My dad near Memorial city is still without power, one brother in law near the Heights has power at home but, not at work; other brother in law in Pearland (south of Houston nearer the storm) no power and since he owns water plants no water to his customers.
All is not well.

From Seabrook..Galveston Bay
I stayed in the Galveston Bay area until 2 PM last Friday when I realized that the water level was rising way faster than ever seen before I took the GTS and headed for The Woodlands where I had a spot at a friend’s house inside the garage.
One of the unforeseen benefits was that there where hardly any cars on the road and the police was busy so I drove most of the way cruising at 120 Mph from Seabrook to the Woodlands in 40 minutes (distance of 65 miles) I’ve been back in the area for 2 days (still no power) but lucky very nice cool weather.
I’ll posted a few pictures that will show the drama found on return.

glad tom hear from ya'll.
thanks for the words of encouragement.
folks are getting back to work today, although power is still a major problem. gas lines are getting better, but some stations are still not up and running.
well, off to work.....running empty trailers to DFW and loaded relief supplies back to Houston......
thanks for your thoughts and prayers-

We got power yesterday and had a small generator going before that which gave us all the power we needed. Lost a couple of large pine trees but none fell on the house. We didn't have any high water so there was no threat to the 928. All in all, it's been almost fun for us, but a lot of work cleaning up the branches and burning them. Lots of family time, and interaction with neighbors that we don't see. I think Houston dodged a bullet with this one. As bad as it was, it could have been much worse.

Houston Gang,
Glad everyone came out ok!! Herman, you really dodged the bullit there dude, lucky you got out ok.
So I guess the GTS handles well at 120mph in hurricane force winds???

The power of this storm, specialy the "tail end" was amazing. There is wide spread damage all over. Even neighborhoods an hour drive north of houston had lots of damage. Less than 50% have power even after several days of repairs. It's going to be some time before it's back to normal around here.

Back on line here - got power yesterday - we had a generator - but no internet. My wife is out with her K9 Search & Recovery team - they were in Seabrook yesterday - not sure where she is today, but she may be deployed for several weeks.
Our house in The Woodlands suffered minor damage - about every 2nd house has a tree on/in/through it. Our lake house on Lake Livingston was badly damaged - I was doing some patch repairs yesterday.
The 2 sharks, left in the drive-way, came through undamaged. My pickup truck had all the clear coat peeled off the roof and hood - weird.

No damage to our house or cars here in the Heights. We were off the power grid for 100 hours starting Saturday afternoon (I think Centerpoint shut us down to prevent numbskulls frying themselves on downed lines), but I found a generator Sunday morning so we were chugging along. Lots of majestic old trees fell in the neighborhood, and several houses were totaled, but we got lucky. I've put some pictures online here.
