Here's what the VIN showed....not a lot...there doesn't appear to be much on these older cars in the VIN database;
Geez, I was REALLY impressed....one option is icons on the switches....now that's a novel idea....it gives you an idea of what the switch does.....that's an option? Someone is hard up to make a list.

How funny.. I'm the one who killed this car.
Sort of. I was the high bidder on eBay for this car, but didn't meet the reserve. I went to go look at it, but when it came down to a test drive it didn't start!
That was on 9/7. I see they haven't got it started yet. I could hear the fuel pump running. And apparently this car doesn't have an ignition relay..
So I would guess the ignition switch isn't getting a good contact. Or we accidentally set the factory alarm off when we were looking in the trunk. Does anyone know how to check that? We disconnected the battery to reset it. But, obviously no luck there.
The car has been repainted. You could see the masking in the door jams.
Other than that, the car seemed OK.

Richard came by tonite and put a jumper on the fuel pump relay and it fired right up. We also drove it and he took some pictures that he said he'd put up on the board later tonite so that everyone can see what it looks like....plus get his assessment. Thank you Richard for helping the lady out...she was thrilled that you actually got it to start!!
Richard: Do you suppose Russell has a point...you mentioned that the key looked like it was the short one...and that might be the reason even the other relay you put in there wouldn't work till you bypassed it with a jumper wire.

As Chuck mentioned, I got the car running by jumping the fuel pump relay, so we took a couple quick spins around the block. Basically its an average/below average '83 with 145,000 miles. No idea of service history, but it fired up real quick, and engine sounded fine. No A/C, shifter slightly out of alignment but no problem getting into gears even though trans was cold. Could only recline the drivers seat, other seat buttons didn't work, tear in seat bottom. Leather interior, slightly warping on dash, typical crack in pod, speedometer was intermittent, leather pulling back from rear qtr panels. Front spoiler torn, also held on with zip ties. Engine bay looks OK for that many miles. I didn't really do an in-depth assessment, so if anybody is serious and wants more info let Chuck or me know.
Here's the pics;

The lady said she'd take $3K or best offer for the car....I've ordered her a new fuel pump relay from Sunset so that it runs....if anyone is interested get ahold of either me or Rich and we'll see if we can facilitate this for the lady....she has the pink slip too.

A nice looking car in rauchquartzmetallic-brown brown.A lot of work but a very nice car with room for improvement.
Hmmm.I have a brown rear panel and an complete Carpetset in my sparepartsfundus and an Euro S Intake with Heads from a 85 s with complete enginemanagment.
Unfortunaly california is far away from Hamburg/Germany.;-)
Or shoud I say good for my bankaccount?

I got a new fuel pump from Sunset and Richard is coming by tonite to fiddle with it. I'll post how it runs and any additional details...we'll take it for a run on the freeway and put it thru some paces...
From what I can see...brand new Eagle tires....brand new battery...service records available and the rest you can pretty much see in the pictures...thanx for looking guys. Let me re-state...I have no vested interest in this car...simply trying to help out an elderly lady at the end of the block. I think if someone came in with a bid that wasn't a total insult, you'd be able to pick it up pretty reasonably. Chuck

3K is too high. I'd be shooting more for the 2K range if it was me. Sorry I will say the exterior looks nice and if we knew more of the up keep on it I might go to 3K.
