Which means Nicole (a woman) prolly owns some 25,000 pairs of wheels of varying sizes and designs ... pretty much as many as the average gal has in shoe pairs

I like my spokes even when they need cleaning. I cleaned them the next day.

Every drastic change made away from stock morphs a 928 into something that eventually is not a 928 anymore. Example, I love VW bugs, but when I see them all tricked up and modified by some teenage mutant automotive engineer, they do nothing for me. Would the owner of a Van Gogh sunflower painting just arbitrarily start sketching in some gaudy roses to "improve it" ? No way. Let's all be adults and try to keep our cars relatively STOCK, STOCK STOCK!!!

The lack of smoothness in my driving style forces me to upgrade to wider 17" wheels so I can run wider tires. I've seen those who can carve corners in their 928 with 215/225 width tires, I tend to throw the car into the corner and I end up washing the front 225 stock tires out. Could be because I had changed the suspension from stock Boges to Bilsteins/Eibachs.

If I really wanted to keep the car stock, I'd be riding on Pirelli P7 Cinturatos.
Not sure if I want to do that. Tires have come a long way in compounds and carcass designs.
Synthetic oils have progressed since the Porsche Shell Oil fill days.
As have synthetic lube for the transmission.
The 928 may be a time capsule of 70's/80's design, but automotive technology has advanced since then and I'm going to give the old gal all the help I can get.

SA,

You're not alone. Although the manhole covers that were stock on mine are just NOT working for me. I've got a set of OB phone dials that I want to get painted and put on. I love the way the OBs look with PDs. Something about the first time I saw the car...

Now that you mention it I need to move that up the priority list. I think it would just transform my car.

The Cup IIs have always been my favorite........... for a long time now. The turbo twist my least favorite. I really dislike seeing them on a shark, especially.

They work so well (IMHO) because the spokes are nice, broad convex surfaces, just like many of the other surfaces on the 928.

My winter wheels are Cup II replicas (Mille Miglia).

What size and brand/style are your wheels? They sort of look like BBS's.. which have always been a fave of mine....
