Could be the vibration dampening weight inside the TT has come loose and bangs forward and backward during acceleration and heavy braking.

UPDATE!!!!
After enjoying my home made ramps I set out to find the mystery "POP" sound. You wouldn't believe what I found. With all this extra rum to move around under the car I was checking all the bolts I could touch. FOUND the problem. There are four 17mm bolts that hold the steering rack to the cross member. Two on each end...one was soooo loose I could move it easily with my bare manly hands. Re-torqued all the steering rack bolts ( 3 of the 10mm bolts were loose but not as bad as the one 17mm bolt. Not only did the POP stop but the steering has improved greatly. No play and very tight feeling. Just wanted to update in case other have a similar problem. My steering rake was actually MOVING with every turn and brake.
