Where is Andrew???? He is in Canton,MI. That is maybe hour and half from saginaw, maybe less if he tales the 928.
I am going to be in Saginaw on Sept 8 on a business trip, could maybe try and swing a look.
"Runs strong but needs tuneup"???????????????????
How about "looks great!!!! but needs a paint job"
Not sure about the UK email address either, could be a student I guess?

sjfarbs..... I live in Saginaw and I'll call the number listed, check it out and report back to anyone interested. BTW, What brings you to my fair city of Sagnasty, Michigan? If you're here for any business, give me a call at 989.797.8325 and I'll show you the hot spots in town, beginning with my fine dining restaurant: Jake's Old City Grill (www.jakesforsteaks.com) It will be nice to meet yet another shark owner!

The owner of this '86 called me back Monday and said although he lives in Saginaw, he works in Detroit (100+ miles) away. He bought it a few years ago to possibly make into a track car but ended up in a divorce and it has sat. I'll be able to look at it late tonite or tomorrow afternoon and I'll take some pictures for all to see but I'll need help getting them posted. If it had possibilities and I didn't have to put another seven grand (after eight grand this year already) into my '91 $$$$4 to get it finished, I'd probably consider it myself. BTW, how would I tell if it was an 86.5 (Are the cam covers the same as an S4, Serial #, etc.)

OK Gang! I took a look at this '86 this afternoon and took a bunch of pictures but someone will have to help me load them tomorrow because I do not know how. (I'm a 61 year old guy who has no major computer skills, but I digress) '86 928S, red, 4spd, w/sunroof & bodyside mouldings 135K miles serial # WPOZZZ922FS861997 (I think)
So here's the skinny! This guy says he bought it six years ago, for a possible track car, was going to pull the block and drop a CHEBBY V8 into it and have fun, but his wife kinda decided to divorce him and he wasn't gonna do anything til the divorce was done, which took five years (been there, done that). Being a Georgia car with a 130k miles, they DO NOT ISSUE TITLES, All he has is a bill of sale. I checked with a freind who has about 35-40 cars (mainly hot rods) and he confirmed that that is typical in GA, HOWEVER, they do issue registration certificates which you can (in Michigan, at least, present to the DMV to get a title). To my knowledge, the owner does not have that, but my friend also said HE could get one (I didn't ask how) So much for that part.
BTW, This was not a PIP, I'm not qualified; just took a long look see, snapped some photos, heard it run and asked a lot of questions!
Mechanical: It runs, but rough, real rough. Could be old gas, bad vac, or whatever. He says the PO told him the timing belt had been replaced, but I wouldn't trust it now after six years of sitting. Leaks oil by the front main seals and passenger cam cover over the exhaust manifold and smokes out the exhaust. Tranny is locked in reverse because of a broken shifter ballcup(??) He says the shocks are adjustable sport shocks but I was not inclined to crawl on the pavement in a suit to check out the suspension. This is NOT a driver, it will need a flatbed or trailer to bring home.
Exterior Appearance: The original body panels are actually in excellent shape with minor dings and/or scratches....however, it needs a full strip and repaint because of sun damage and a bad respray years ago with the clearcoat peeling. All of the glass is good and the panels all seem to fit well with normal clearances. Chrome manhole-cover wheels are in decent shape but the front tires are trash. Neither door will open from the outside but you can climb in from the rear hatch to open them, thank God for that. The owner does not remember if the AC works
Interior: TRASHED! Cracked dash & pod, bad seats (front & rear) with missing control switches, most of the carpet out and passenger door panel off.
All in All: IMHO, probably worth about 2 grand if you have the time to pick it up and part it out: or want what actually is a nice shell and desire a project that requires you to rebuild the entire drivetrain, replace the interior and re-do the body over the next two years..........( gee, kinda like my '91 $$$$4)
