Default Does anybody recognise this exhaust system (MY 84 RoW 928S2)

Hey again guys,

I jacked my car up for the first time today, topping up the ATF and interested to have a bit of a gander at what the underside looks like (dirty I guess is a word?). I had suspected the exhaust I had wasn't stock, and I don't really have a whole lot to compare it to sound-wise (my great uncle's 79 is the only other 928 I can really get to) but it seemed pretty normal to me. Either way, I get under there and my dad who was also interested to see what the underside of a 928 looked like seemed pretty convinced it wasn't. It stands to logic I guess, porsche didn't seem to be the ilk to give a car the deep rumbly resonance my car gets at about 1500rpm. So I took some photos and figured I'd throw it up on here and see what you guys think.

Anyone recognise it?

(From rear to front)

And this is what the tips look like/where they exit from.

As always any help is appreciated...and any suggestions on cleaning products to use for under there?

Thanks

Alex

Looks to be a shop-built replacement exhaust to me. How does it sound?

Uh, pretty nice really, nice enough that its really hard to decide whether I want to put the catback/xpipe sold by 928MS on the car or not. I'm yet to get the car dyno'd too, so I dunno whether the current setup is better or worse than factory. I might be able to get a sound bite of it, but I dunno if it will have any sort of quality to it, all I have is a cellphone to record it with lol

That front muffler looks like the one on my old 81 euro S, which is an Ansa.

My 86 Euro S2 is twin pipe all the way through, I though all stock Euros were the same....

Entirely possible John, I don't think my one is stock. I'm just interested to know if it is a familiar exhaust to you guys or whether it is just something random that one of the PO's put in. I've not touched the car in that respect.

The rear part looks custom with the cherry bomb glasspack into the last muffler.

A custom exhaust seems to be the way to really go. And I think thats what you have there.... My whole system in my old 79 from the header back with new cats all stainless was only $500.00 and it looked and sounded great. Many times I see people on here over look the easy/ local. budget solution.

Looks similar to what I plan on doing with my 81. Open pipes is making it hard to have any fun with the car.
