You won't get anything for them here. The 928 folks are notorious bargain hunters and everything here is a significant percentage below market, just because we know everything. And very few 928 guys want them...hell I upgraded. Better to sell them locally and you might get a decent price, at least I hope so because I have a set to sell too! Try selling them on a VW forum, might get a lot more for them there.

 

if thats all I'm realistically gonna get, I'll keep them for a few more months. They'll still be worth the same with a bit less tread...

When I moved up to 18 inch wheels I thought I would sell my slots as well until I found out how little they are worth, so since then I seem to keep lending them to people for reasons such as refurbs on their wheels etc....

At least it creates a fair amount of goodwill and I am helping other 928 owners

Honestly, no they won't (IMHO of course!). I can't even afford £200 now since my motorbike needs major work, and that's my daily transport, so I'm not trying to talk you down for personal gain.

Like many of you I guess I watch ebay and Pistonheads classifieds for wheels and 928 stuff. A mate recently bought a set of like-new flats with nearly new tyres for £150. The tyres were so nearly new there were traces of the stickers on the tread. OK, maybe he was lucky, but since then the economy has tanked, food/fuel/everything else is up 15%-45% so nothing at the non-premium end of the market is worth what it was. Cayenne's that retailed for 27K are now down at 15K six months later.

I'd drive on them through the winter (or summer, since that's about the same thing this year!) and hope the hobby market recovers in 2009. The VW crowd seem to like the 928 flats.
