I just got informed the other night by my gf that you had msged me a few times. I have been out in the field for awhile now. I will be home soon and will be taking a month off.
I am interested in swapping autos with you, as I would rather have the LSD auto in my 87, mainly for when the snow flies if I drive it. Let me know if you are interested.

I can no longer easily exceed 145mph ... i think the "easy top speed" of the car has dropped by 10mph. That's the point at which the car no longer continues accelerating at or near the same rate, but "hits the wall" and would take a long time and more road to get much faster.

On the subject of changing final drive ratio - is it possible to replace the ring and pinion but keep the rest of the gearbox the same? Or were there significant internal differences that prevent it across model years and transmissions?
If so, has anyone ever tried switching a manual 5-speed with the 2.54 ring gear/pinion from an S4 auto box?
