Intake Manifold Coating peeling on the inside!
I'm doing my intake service at this moment and getting ready to paint the manifold. As I'm getting everything disconnected to prepare for stripping the outside, I pull the side plates and notice the factory coating is peeling off of the air horns and runners on the inside! I've been trying to get the loose parts away for about 2 hours now and I'm a little concerned.
Am I going to have to take this intake in to get it bead-blasted in order to prevent any of the factory coating from dropping into the combustion chambers???? Any advice would be appreciated. I've been washing and scraping all afternoon.

I had the same inside mine when I had it apart a few months ago.
I ended up using a long-bristled brush to paint the inside with paint stripper, and then a pressure washer to blast the bubbling stuff off.. did this a few times over.
After baking the intake a couple of times to out-gas the metal and allow further cleaning, I just painted the inside of the manifold using a couple of coats of a silver aerosol engine enamel that was self-priming and gloss finish.
I didn't bother powder coating my manifold - I'm expecting to take the heads off in 12-18 months for a rebuild and new head gasket, so just wanted a temporary fix.
