Default replacement of air pump check valve?

How tough is it to replace the check valve (not the three-way dump valve)that keeps exhaust pressure from backing up into my new air pump and ruining the seals. The rebuilt pump says the warranty is void if I don't replace basically all the plumbing, which would cost more than $400. I think I can get away with just the check valve for $36 and nix the warranty. It looks like pretty tight access. Has anyone done this recently who can give me any tips? BTW I thought about ditching the air pump but decided not to.
Thanks,
