Haven't seen the car, but there is a place in Germany where they paint the tail lights in various combinations - all red, red with dark top, or all dark. I saw them on eBay some time ago, but they are highly illegal over there... I think someone posted the site of a company in the US that does similar things, but can't recall the details.

One important thing to remember is that the 928 tail light lenses are not very even. They have embossed letters, and "Valleys" that you need to smoothen before painting them - if you want to get a smooth, glossy result. You also need to clear coat the paint job, so that you can't scuff the translucent paint by accident.

I believe, Tony did a write-up about his conversion. It looks great on his car! However, following him, I could barely see the turn signals flash.

Interesting - no airbags, no rear air...

Others have done similar with the lights (Nicole for one)...

Mine are tinted on top - with tinting film. Not the most durable solution (I already had to redo one). And it has started to turn purple, which does not look very attractive on the backup lights...

But you can control the translucency a bit better than with spray paint. And if you get in trouble for vehicle code violation, you could remove the film real quick...

I'm luckly - I actually like mine just the way they are - I even like the US side markers better than ROW.

I think amber & red both go well with a black car - I agree they go less well with some other colors...

I think if you do different they need to stay functional as in not too dim...

In the top pic the lights look cheap and kit car-ish. Just MHO.

Note that the rear GTS reflector strip has the all too common bowing in the middle...

No back up lights to speak of....I'll stay with what I have . Stock. Looks too plain for me. Different isn't always better IMHO.

The taillights are cool but do look just a little spartan, the back-up panel would break it up a little. My question is (not trying to hijack this thread) how do they do the dual sided exhaust? what would it take to do that?
