Depending upon how the PPI looked and if Carfax/history/maint records look good, I think it's a very good price for a 5 spd GTS with low mileage!

Enjoy it!!!
I agree.

The only thing the pictures tell me are:

Not sure about the exhaust work.
Center caps are not original
Missing cargo cover and retaining mesh.
Hood seems to have a larger gap on the right but could be the pictures.
Why no pictures of the entire cluster
Not sure if there are any records other than manuals
rub strips but what can you say either love em or hate em.

I don't know if i would be assured that no history of an accident on carfax is a guarantee. This needs to be checked. Appears to have new intake hoses and i would just bring a hammer with me to verify that the speedo hasn't been tampered with although it looks correct for the mileage noted.

best Luck

Back to the RDK. It isn't a great system... so not having one is not a huge problem -
if you desire the functionality you can get it aftermarket pretty cheaply now...

If you have it disabling it is pretty easy too.

I think the reason the RDK messes with so many peoples heads is that the temperature compensation doesn't seem to be perfect - so sometimes ambient temps make a difference & sometimes self heating through hard driving/braking makes a difference.. and wheels heat up differently due to sun, cornering, alignment/wear (the smartire shows that).

I assume the sensors are also atmospherically calibrated so there may be some small reference pressure effect from highs/lows...

And since its just a binary alert you never really know... since it also only works while the wheels are rotating its hard to figure out at exactly what point the sensors trigger - its not like you can slowly inflate/deflate and see where the warning happens... at least not in any convenient way...

David - So you got it!

- Welcome to the GTS Manual Club !

PPI was good?

The only things I see are typical:

The ones Anthony mentioned +
Is that a tear in the rear hatch carpet?
Looks like the vinyl on the back side edges of the console may be flaring out a bit (common).

I see it has some kind of wheel locks - they don't look to be stock GTS ones - make sure you get the key!

Looks to me like the wheels have been refinished (not a bad thing if done well)

Is there a small round damaged spot on the pass seat? The drivers seat has a few creases that look a little odd (may just be the light).

The exhaust is hard to see but looks like non-stock tips or an RMB?

Do you know if it has tools/spare/compressor?

I have arranged for Southampton Porsche to do the PPI. They know of the dealer that has the car and have done PPI's for them in the past. I hope it goes well. They said they don't see many 928's anymore but knew what to look for. I think it will need a TB anyway, so I expect that on the PPI report.

I also have a fellow Rennlist member that will be going by there Sunday to meet the business owner and take the car for a test drive.

If it gets past the PPI and the fellow Rennlister's eye it whould be a good car.

Hey fellas, give me some more advice.

I talked to a friend of mine today about the car and he recommended that I verify that the engine was in fact a GTS 5.4L with the proper GTS cams.

There is supposed to be a number stamped on the block somewhere that helps verify this.

Where should I look? Below is an actual picture of the engine in the car. Are there any other items on the engine's exterior that are specific to the GTS (besides the larger intake tubes)?

Default right here

Right Here.
It has the correct air tubes and its R134a as it should be.
Stickers on the rad have been moved so maybe a new rad.
Rad is the correct color though.
Has the GTS breather system.
I think its a GTS 8>)

What series should that number be?

Sure looks like a GTS - the breather is unique. I wouldn't worry...

I'm just worried there is always the possibility that someone blew the 5.4L GTS engine and replaced it with a standard 5.0L GT or S4 engine. The car has no service records with it.

Just push the upper rad hose to the side and look at the engine #, it should say

85P00501-00680

Here's mine for reference, 85L for 1990, M28/47 for GT: (please excuse the filth....)
