I won't ask if you had your driver's side window open or not.

What a ****ty accident.

Window was closed. It's an older Infiniti I30 (Nissan Maxima) actually. I don't even remember the last time I saw a Tempo or Topaz.

Sorry, Did not mean to offend re the Tempo or Topaz - the wheels appear similar to Topaz wheels.

The deer poop reminds me of an incident with a group of Porsches in a BC Porsche trip a couple of years ago.

My 14 year old son was travelling in a DP935 and I was 2 cars in front with my 928. I narrowly missed a deer, the 911 RSAmerica behind me missed it but the DP with my son inside nailed it on the passenger side. Scared the hell out of me with my son in that car. I did a high speed u-turn to get back. Everyone was alright except the deer and the fibreglass front end of the DP. The wheel and fender had the same shade of "deer coating" as yours.

I had the same exact thing happen to me a few years ago in the 928 - hit a deer that was already dead in the middle of the highway. It ripped off most of the front spoiler, alt. belt (that lit up the warning lights), A/C compressor and also cracked the bracket that holds the A/C compressor on.

It took hours to clean the deer fur out from under the car...

Good luck!

Can't find the pics, but about four years ago I got the tri-fecta 3 deer in one shot! 6K of damage to my wife's brand new Chrysler Town & Country. My insurance agent still laughs when I call him.

Just a quick update. Climbed underneath on the weekend. Removed what was left of the spoiler - no other body damage. Found the alternator belt was off and reinstalled. I do not have A/C or air pump as I have a SC install. I have the SC out for a refresh and therefore no other issues underneath. There was deer hair and chunks stuck to everything underneath.
Started car and all good. The new spoiler should arrive about the time I finish the SC refresh.

You're lucky. A car hit a deer in front of me this past Friday. The guts flew on my windshield. My girlfriend was staring in horror. I felt bad for the little guy as it was just, well.... a little one. Survival of the fittest I guess. As for the car in front of me, he was spewing coolant for about 2 miles before pulling over to the side.

hi Warren,

First good to hear you're ok and the car was 'only' slightly damaged. Did the alt. belt re-install cure the 'all dash lights on' issue?

RE. the other car in this thread; if it was $4k to fix wonder what it be to fix a 928.........write off?

Malcolm,
Thanks for the kind words. The alt belt cured all the dash lights - car is running good again and I was very happy when I started the car.
BTW: We need to plan a trip soon.

Andy, the car in front of me took the brunt of the damage and he had the coolant leak issue as well as extensive damage. It was too dark to see the deer remnants thankfully.

Hey Warren

Glad to hear your up and running. I had the same thing happen to me on the 22x a few months back. Luckily though I was in the Frontier and was able to take it down the center. Some minor bending of the under body skid plates was the extent of the damage but damn that sure wakes you up @ 11:00 PM on that lonely road. I pulled on gloves and moved the remains off the road to prevent a similar, too bad teh person that originally hit it didn't have the same courtesy.

We'll have to do some advance planning on a trip this year. Melissa is due this Thursday so I'll be around the house for the next little bit stop by if you need an extra set of hands.

Malcolm and Rich,

We should maybe start another thread to plan a trip.

Rich, Congrats on the rapidly approaching big day. All the best to Melissa and yourself. If you need a short break, I will be putting the S/C back together and the spoiler back on this weekend if I receive the parts by then.

Could have been worse.

Could have hit a moose.
