Are there any well known tricks on how to change transmission? I mean beyond the obvious, are there any easy way of doing this other than what is the most logical for a hobby mechanic?

"Change the transmission" well one would assume you mean change A/T to a 5-speed. Search here. It's been discussed and I'm sure I saw a step-by-step. It's not easy; it involves cutting the firewall. I don't remember seeing it in the WSM, not something that is a normal maintenance procedure.
