Default Window motor?

I am having an intermitent problem with the passenger window. Every now and then it will not go up. It's done it to me a couple of times and usually after a little time I'll hit the switch and it goes right up. It's never hesitated going down so the problem has always been going back up. I've verified the switch is working with a meter so I know it's not that.

Yesterday when I drove the car for the first time in a month it went up after I hit the switch. It was hot so I put it back down and it will again not go back up.

I noticed there are two plugs in the top of the motor that I am guessing are for lubricating or perhaps for spraying contact cleaner in there.

My question has anyone else had this problem and were they able to fix it without replacing the motor?

TIA

I had this problem, after so many times of the door opening and closing it wears through the wiring and the first thing to go is the window, sometimes the wire ends will contact and it will work again, take apart the door and check it out.

I tested the switch at the connection to the motor by unplugging it and putting the tester probe into the connector and hitting the switch. I tested both up and down on the switch. It all tested fine so I think the problem is at the motor.

When you tested the switch at the motor you said it tested ok. I am not the most knowlegdable on this area but, it sounds like the switch gets stuck in the up position (always on) and could have caused you motor to freeze up. The contacts in those switches can get corroded or the pin where the wires from the switch connect under the passenger side console area are shorting out.

The other possiblity is there is something in the path of the window when it goes up and is causing the motor bind and to overheat. Temporarily causes it to stop working. Have you will proably need to pull the motor and regulator to check if the motor is burned out.

When I had this problem it was just a loose connection under the passenger console causing the window to work intermitantly.

just take the widow motor/tranny off and disasseble, very easy to do. once apart flush all the old grease out of the tranny and put in fresh grease/lubricant. then you can also clean the end of the brushes and the spot that they rub (cant recall name) on the motor.

I had one that stopped working, turned out the magnet chipped and the chip wedged the motor, removed the chip, greased the motor and has been fine since.

Once done you can also test it on the bench.

While your in there also check the nylon guides on the tube, if they get worn it will cause binding.
