Very sorry to hear about this, and you just bought the car!
What you paid for the car should not at all reflect what the insurance company is willing to pay. If this is not true or they play this card please let me know ASAP as I will be having a big argument with my insurance carrier who is unwilling to set an agreed value without me spending $300 for an appraisal. They will only insure me for the highest value in the book plus some for the extra's on the car.
I hate insurance companies, they're like scummy used car salesmen for the most part! (Maybe a few exceptions)

If it is, please forward the info. to me and I'll buy it.
You have every right to get pissed at your carrier or the adjuster....just try not to let it cloud your judgement when reaching a settlement. Your car absolutely has value, and it's the insurance company's obligation to make you whole.

That's not the idea that you want in your head when you talk to your adjuster. His job is to negotiate an acceptable settlement for as little as possible.
Again, not the idea you want in your head. This might be what the adjuster tells you, but if he can show you a car with your "specs and mileage" for $2k ask to see it. In all likelihood it's not a car with your specs and mileage....or nowhere near.

your opinion is well taken, but unfortunately, it's not reality when dealing with claims adjusters or the car markets.....
What you think it's worth (value) may not be what you get.
The insurance company's obligation is to cover your loss for either:
1. stated value (backed up by a professional appraisal--agreed to by your insurance carrier)
2. actual cash value (more likely the case, as determined by current published market values)
it all depends upon how your policy was written. it's that simple.
