Hey Brent sorry about not being able to get out to you there, I completely ran out of time. But my gf comes home tomorrow and if you fancy a drive out to myplace you can make arrangements with her and pull the wing off yourself and test it right there.

Mark,

I bought one of your fiberglass wings, had it painted and tried to mount it tonight but the mounting holes are way off!

The spacing between the holes on each end is fine but the distance from driver side to passenger side is off about 1/2"?

Can the holes be drilled? Do they have to be tapped? Is it fiberglass all the way thru or is there some metal backing inside?

Thx

Brent

You didn't test fit the wing Before it was painted???

Mark did say they need adjustments in an earlier post. A half inch seems like a lot.

I've had a similar problem with the Vertex wings. Here's how I fixed them:

Their provider now has a new version that is "supposed" to fit better, it should arrive tomorrow and I can let you know, but the post above indicates how the one you have can be fixed.

Before painting I only tested one side and the distance between the two holes was ok i.e - approx. 2.5''.

I didn't test the fit between the driver to the passenger side? Call me a stupid head but I misread Mark's comment about the holes....

However, I would assume that when you buy something like this it should fit if it's made for a 928?

Rod, I bought it from 928Intl not Vertex? You'd think the manufacturer would get the specs right unless they are using another vehicle type to set up their mold? Seems pretty easy to find an old hatch and match the mold to it?

Anyways, in hindsight I should have just painted my folding wing? I talked to a few shops and nobody wanted to do it but I may have to go that route eventually and sell my wing to somebody and take my lumps!

Very frustrating!

I understood you bought it from 928Intl, but I was just indicating a similar problem. Neither place actually makes them so they may have even originated at the same place.

It's not really that hard to fix, but it is frustrating to have it not fit.

Good luck,
