Rear Tow Opening Cover
Ok I have what I think may be a dumb question.
Over the last couple of years I've seen a few 928's that have covers on the opening above the rear license plate where the tow eye threads in. Actually I've only seen them on the GTS and they are color coded.
So I ordered a standard black one Part # 92850513102 for my car but after trying the fitment I couldn't figure out how to pop it in. The diameter of the cover appears to be too large and comes in contact with the curve of the bumper.
Anyone know if there's a trick to installing this?

You could try putting it in hot water to soften it up a bit. Not hot enough to melt it, of course. Like coffee hot hot water. Then it just pushes in and clips into place. It does take quite a bit of pressure.
Hope this helps!

I just looked at it again and maybe I'm just afraid of damaging the paint. The inner diameter of the cover seems to be correct for the opening size but the overall diameter seems too large and comes in contact with the overhang above the license plate. Is this right?
I'll have to try the heat trick over the weekend to see if that helps.

The lower end of the plug goes between the plate and the bumper cover IIRC so it doesn't 'hang over.' And - yes - it is bigger than the hole; it sits 'on top' of the bumper cover.
And, yes, like Carl said - there's a single phillips screw to retain it.
