Rog-
you could just bypass all of these questions and buy one direct from Carl....

Not at $1000 - just not worth it for the application my customer has in mind.
Thats why I use ebay - you can if you are careful - get some great deals.
As always I am looking for a deal 8>)

JK and I were discussing conversion to the MB units a while back until we discovered the price of a rebuilt was around $1,100. That price makes Carl's update version look like a bargain.

This CIS distributor adds 30% more fuel at WOT. What good is that? 30% is hardly anything for a boosted engine. I don't see how this is helpfull if you are running more than 4 psi of boost. Carl, anyone, can you help me out here?

The stock CIS will feed over 400 HP if you shim the system pressure a little so 520 HP with this ???

The US version of the 928 CIS did not have an O2 sensor, ECU, frequency valve, etc to adjust the A/F mixture above the normal factory setting. It has been shown to be capable of handling .5 bar (7 psi) but boosting above that will run a very high risk of going to lean at high rpm's. The 30% more fuel actually means more than 30% more air when you look at the air to fuel (A/F) ratio.

Actually, 30% is a great deal on a CIS system, because not all of your improvements will come from this fuel head. In addition to the mods to this fuel head, you can also modify the WUR to drop (lower) pressure under boost and you pick up great gains from the pressure differential at the fuel valve in the distributor.

I have run supercharged CIS at up to 1200 CFM and 12 psi and fueled it. QA NOVI 2000 is 1400 CFM for point of reference. Thats plenty of boost.

Later, the Bosch engineers switched from monitoring and modifying slit sizes in the central fuel valve to get more furel to increasing the pressure differential in each of the 8 pots. This Mercedes Benz fuel head is that later design, and then modified beyond stock by us. It will still idle and give an accurate mid-range too.

For the last 2 years, we used this modified fuel head at Pikes Peak without altitude compensation problems either.

I am not saying that the guy in the topic of this copied and pasted or not. I haven't looked the item up on Carl's site Just pointing out that we shouldn't lower the bar of ethics on things pertaining to the internet.

Good guy or not. If he has done wrong, he shouldn't be coddled. Now work it out among yourselves whether anyone did anything wrong or anyone was harmed.
Sheesh, I guess Carl, rog and everybody else should remove all references to "Porsche" from their marketing materials then... there's always somebody further up the food chain ;-)

What a lot of nonsense. Rog has called this right, leave the guy alone

Agreed that Roger has vouched for the guy.

I will hold to any argument to ethics. The anonymity of the internet brings out the bad in more people than we would like.

Porsche has people making sure that their logos are not misused in commerce. Even the Porsche Club of America is not always permitted to use the Porsche logo. Vendors SHOULD make sure their use is appropriate or at least measure the risk of proceeding if it is not.
