directly fits exactly in all locations except the rear hatch one at the rear - this one needs some shortening of the socket end for clearance inside the hatch. The wiring uses a different connector so needs to be adapted.
Here is a picture with a connector (no wires) installed and also of how I adapted for the rear hatch location (soldered & pigtail ends JB Weld encapsulated.

Alan... What LED bulb is that? I was looking for one to fit, and couldn't find one that fit well. THe one I have in there sorta fits, but doesn't give off much light.
I have them in Black and Grey for $36 each.
New VW stock.
Also available in Tan - would have to order those.

Alan, I got my VW int light like your from my local auto yard @$5 each. I have one question on the wiring up of these. What color wires from the orig int lights went to what color wires for the Passat Int lights. If you could help me there I'd appreciate your help very much.

Actually since I didn't use a VW harness - I don't even know what colors they use. However its easy to tell... take the bulb out and use a multimeter to test the connections: The Porsche red wire should go to the direct connection to one end of the bulb (unaffected by the switch). The Brown/White wire goes to the terminal that connects to the other bulb terminal only when the lens is in the middle (door switched) position. The brown wire goes to the terminal that connects to that same bulb terminal only when the lens is in the permanently on position.
Roger - Great news on stocking these - I may just springs for some black ones...
Alan,
Thanks for such a quick response. I will go the way you suggest though I have never used a multi meter before so this will be interesting to say the least.
If I get my camera back I will post the before and after photo's as I will be redoing the color Black as the auto yards were beige. But I must say I like these better than the 928's originals just in looks and a sturdier housing too.
Many thanks!!!

I know these lights have been used for the two in the headliner and one in the hatch. Can these also be used in the doors? I would rather have all 5 lights the same style.
