Electrical connections that are dirty / corroded can fail partially or fully, as well as intermittently.
So, all connection points need to be clean and maximize conductivity and reduce problems. Especially on these cars. But that's like 928 course 101 and you already know it, right?

Not sure what exactly is wrong with your car, but you would want to religiously clean all the grounds. My negative cable itself was fine, but the end was really badly corroded where it attached to the inside of the hatch area. I cleaned everything, CE panel out, new fuses, relays, grounds, connectors throughout and intend to get **** with it again soon, annual maint. Most of the grounds were badly corroded.

Relays have also caused problems, like Chris Hansons car showed, with a faulty Ignition relay that failed not while sitting idle, but in the middle of a long trip.

Yes, bat cable can fail intermittent, so can other connections including relays.

Have been using dremel with lots of wire brushes, but be careful on CE panel, don't want to loose wire bristles inside the panel.

And of course I get to work this morning and the car starts fine. I wonder if it was flooded? or maybe a coil that is starting to go.

I think I am going to try and nurse it home tonight and check it out. I am also going to put a new coil. I just hate intermitent problems on a car. when I had this type of issue on my last 911 I ended up going to MSD ignition and Megasquirt and never had another problem. I was going to swith this car to Megasquirt this winter, but just might start now.

You might want to check that green wire. When I first got my car, it would die occasionally while driving. The wire looked fine, but the connections were crumbling, and were in pieces.
