Long story short, my auto trimmer lost my rear seat backs and had to replace them with a set from a porsche wrecker. Now that he has trimmed them he said he couldn't get them to fit. I now have the car back and it looks like the inboard mounting mechanism has changed.
The car is a MY84 euro and I'm pretty sure on the original seat backs, the outboard side bolted in and the inboard side was simple a pole that slotted into a bracket.
Can someone confirm this/differences, as now it looks like I'm going to have to have the brackets removed to fit this new seat.

Can someone post a pic of how the later model seats bolt down inboard - looks like we're going to have to modify the car to take the new seats *rolls eyes*
I have some older style seats I'll trade you free if you pay postage, or sell you. Your trimmer should be able to pull the trim and instal it onto the older style ones ....
