Paris or Bosch Alternator for my OB??
Well as most of you know I've been having alternator problems for a while. I changed it a few months back. I bought it off ebay so it probably was junk but I'm not sure. I just looked at my old Alt that came with the car and it was a Paris-Rhone but the one I installed off eBay was a Bosch. Does it matter and are they interchangeable? I ordered the Bosch from autozone but the order was canceled so they may be out of stock at the manufacturer. I reordered it so we'll see what happens. If you guys say their not interchangeable I'll cancel the order. Jason

I was going to do the mod infact I bought the GM Alt already but the mount holes are a different size so I figure I got the wrong Alt. Never read about anyone having to drill out the mount holes. It Was supposed to be the one that fits. Got it off ebay so no return. Jason

Delco is the last alternator you'll buy. 105 -130 amps, 14.5 volts. Go to AutoZone and pick up 1988 camaro 2.8L. That unit has the correct clock, you'll need the Painless pigtail to wire in. No drilling required thou some come with the steel insert that may differ in diam. You'll also need a 5-8 mm spacer for the top mounting. Use thick washers. Easy upgrade.

It wasn't the last one I bought. I bought a REAL alternater from 928 Motorsports. That one cured all my electrical issues....the delco didn't. If you want one though, I will sell the one sitting on a shelf in my garage gathering dust, with the pigtail for 1/2 price. PM me if you want it.......I don't.

I am about to install a rebuilt from 928 International, its a Bosch AL170X, mine isn't giving me any problems but I kinda just wanna get it done - WYAIT. Not sure what is in there right now I'll post up once done. My guess is that whatever it is it is the original. From what I have heard both the Bosch and the Paris-Rhone are fine replacements as long as you get them from a reputable source.

WEll bought the 88 camero alternator at auto zone yesterday. They didn't have the correct plug for it though. Their computer specified a 2 prong instead of a 4 pin. O'reilley's had the plug but they say it's a 3 wire and the alternator has 4 pins. On the plug one pin is just a hole no wire. Is this the correct plug or do I need one with 4 wires coming out? I'll be installing it all on Monday when I'm back home. Jason
