Practice Day 3
These pictures are from just before my little accident. The cars OK - I'M OK.
We were practicing this morning and as I came around a right turn in 3rd at full throttle and full lateral load... I discover the car or two before me hooked the inner curve to increase his time. There was crushed gravel and sand all over the roadway at the apex.
"Hooking" is a common practice of WRC and dirt racers... they will drop a tire off the pavement and into the shoulder and "hook" the pavement on the inner sidewall of the tire. This lets them swing round the corner like a train on rails.
Throws a lotof debris on the road though!
I fished L and R before going all the way around in a 360 at roads edge. The chin spoiler hit a high curb on the side and exploded. I was able to steer through the spin so the car would point up the right way and we kept going. Its an awesome in-car video!
We did not qualify well, but we did qualify. And we have secured a spare chin spoiler that sorta fits from another car. Tomorrow we will put it on. The race is Sunday!

Thank you so much, guys.
I have improved all my times this year on each of the three sections of the course compared to my times last year, so I am quite happy. Only problem is - all the other competitors have improved their times too!
I am just 7 years away from competing in Vintage class (1970 and older) but we continue to carry the flag. My car is 30 years old this year!
I cannot count how many spectators and fellow racers have come up and taken pictures of our car, tell me how they always wanted one, or that they think it is the prettiest sounding engine on the hill.... many, many fans of the 928. We have had several extended conversations with fellas that wanted to pull the trigger - whih model to look for, how much to pay, etc because upon hearing us tear it up they have decided to go get one now.
I'm not the fastest by any means, but she's a true crowd pleaser. I'm lucky to be the guy driving it.
I'll do my best on Sunday. I hear it is being webcast on some radio station - look for it.

Carl,
Good luck, glad to know your safe after your spin. Thanks for letting me help bleed your brakes before you left. I feel I helped in a small way. Rip it up tomorrow!

Burning Brakes
Listening now to krdo.com it is the vintage group and they announced that a car went off and they have a red flag. Not Carl.
I first logged on and it said it was full then logged on again and got in.
