Wow, dude that sounds exactly like my story same here my right rear cv axle is done I got a rebuilt one from 928 Intl. I know what you mean about the noise it is very horrible its the sound of money being spent.....Unfortunately for me I had to buy new control arms to go along as well plus I now need new rims to go along with it...

Well after breaking 2, 3" extensions (made in china crap) with my modified breaker bar, went to sears.
The axel bolt fought mightily, the steel extension was deflecting around 4 inches and bamb, and the bolt gave way!
Now how do I remove the rest of what’s left of the rear axel, use hammer on axel bolt to tap out?

Another way (if the wheels are still on the ground so you can apply the e-brake or brakes) is to just use a 3/4" socket wrench (or big-*** offset wrench) and put a floor jack under the handle. Just jack slowly on the wrench! For me the axle nut let go nice and slow this way. Might want to put a blanket over the whole thing if you're worried about breaking the extension or the wrench.
You ought to be able to just tap the axle stub straight inwards, hopefully nothing got bent in such a way as to prevent getting it out.

I replaced rear bearings in my 944 picked up a 3/4 " socket set and torque wrench from harbor freight......I dont like most of the stuff there but that big **** can cost some bucks
