MANY 959's have been fully federalized. The company that did my '92 Euro GTS back in '00 did the first 959 in the mid 90's! You are correct that Porsche never crashed any of them for the Feds and that is why Porsche never brought any in, but Registered Importers did not have to crash them and used other means to get around that issue. No getting around the EPA issue though, and that was a big problem, that WETL managed to figure out... Canepa did it another way (MOTEC) but used much of the WETL info to get his cars in. He did a BUNCH of them too! I was under the impression it was nearing 40... I thought one of the articles about it that I read said they the guy that was doing the write up saw 25 on site at the time of the writing! YMMV!

Going back to the original post and pictures:
Lower left picture: That push mower has a serious toe-in problem. He should push it to the local alignment shop and have the alignment set back to specs. He will probably shave a few seconds off his mowing time.
BTW: That particular mower model was fully crash tested by the feds and EPA approved as well. He should paint it red to match his '959'.

Not sure what it is - but it is NOT a "REAL" 959...a few things missing from the Fiero-conversion-body-kit...like the duct in front of the rear tire...
Plus - wow - thet gey kin spel reel god!

James didn't Bill Gates also help get the ball rolling by funding the project? I know he owned one and had brought it to the US as a museum piece, was busted driving it and then searched for ways to have the car legalized....or something like that. Apparently there's a loop hole that allows the cars to be driven so many miles/year.
