A lonely scream from beneath the car
So I finally got around to installing my new oil pressure sender. Getting the old one off was a pain in the ***, so I did the swap at the same time as an oil change to have the filter out of the way. Getting a wrench big enough to turn the sender but small enough to fit in the tight space was a challenge. I ended up just using pliers to turn the sender, which removed the sender and screw plug above it. No problem...I used this as an opportunity to clean it. Getting it back in with the new sender was also a challenge but I managed to wrestle it back into place after skinned knuckles and a variety of profanities. In the process I managed the dunk my foot into the now-full plastic oil pan that I had slid out from under the car and pushed away. More profanities. Overall, removal, cleaning and reinstall took about 90 minutes (including time spent searching for a wrench that would fit).
After all this, as I'm hooking the wires back up and tightening the nuts securing them, I turn the nut *just* a bit too far and the post snaps off. NNNOOOOoOoooOOoOOOOO! My lonely scream from beneath the car.
The car runs much quieter with 20w-50 now (I was running 10w-40 before), but since I've already broken the new sender the pressure gage is (still) dead.

Geezzz Dave....That kind of sucks ...I guess the replacement will be easier as you know what wrench and it has now been removed once. ****e happens right....goodluck....Bill

Oooh, Mac! Ouch! I'm laughing, but I know it's wrong...
I can empathize with the feelings, though Dave. Wrestling with the belt tensioner bolt was like that for me. I kept putting down wrenches that promptly disappeared and took minutes to relocate. That was making me crazy.

That's what happens when you wrench using my mojo.
That kinda crap happens to me all the time, ask me how you can damage a radiator (ATF cooler inside the side tank) while doing a TB/WP job......

As soon as I read the title and the first line I knew the source of the scream.
Them hollow connection posts shear off real easy!
A crowsfoot socket makes the job much easier to R&R the sender unit.

Big Dave
Sorry to hear this. I also let out a small Nooo when I read this. After my recent oil pressure/sender re-do I found the perfect tool at sears. (sorry no pics) It is a crecent/adjustable wrench W/ thin jaws, the handle is short and worked perfectly for the sender. If you can not find one I will loan you mine as I would hate to see you have to screw W/ this again.
