my data is directly from build sheets and quite a bit of it is not on Chuck's site, hence the reason I did this project

Where do you get he build sheets from? I don't see any reason why various groups of folks could not get together and do this and we could then have a complete and total listing of ALL 928's! I think that would be cool! Where am I wrong?

Looks like all the Iris blues were in '94 too... Didn't someone say there was at least one automatic too? So that was a pretty popular color. Looks like for '95 the unusual but popular color to choose was Aventurine (I always thought it was Adventurine...shows how little I know!)

Rixter this is really COOL info and I am so glad you did it. I hope we can get a full accounting of them all in due time! I can't imagine the amount of time it took you to get all this!

I know I speak for many when I say, "let us help!!!" Lets get all cars, all years!

But... How many 928 have been built?

I see every week that another one is being sold for parts. At that speed, there won't be many 928 left soon!

Rixter-Thanks for your hard work on this.

By running the VIN(s) through the decoder, the missing check digit can be derived. Let the Speed Yellow GTS hunt begin...release the hounds!!!

The check digit for the the Speed Yellow GTS is "7" so the VIN would be WP0AA2927SS820066.

Bark bark....

LOL. Yes, that's what I came up with as well (plus the 76 others that took me about 20 minutes to punch in).

Just a head's up to the five Midnight Blue manny-tranny owners who might be reading - if you get an unsolicited phone call someday from some dude interested in your GTS, that'll probably be me.

So..about 40% of the 95 run were 5 speeds....interesting..I always figured there would be a higher proportion of the 5 speeds in the later years when people who wanted the 928 wouldn't settle for what was on the floor at the dealership.

When ROW cars are counted too automatic vs manual ratio gets much closer to "normal". Its very likely in total only under 800 manual GTS were made vs 2000+ automatics. Hopefully Rixter finds my estimate to be way too small but its unlikely.

More cars sold per year and later the model year larger percentage is automatics. Doctors etc high income professionals did have good taste in Germany back then but not good enough to know what used car market wants 15 year down the line.

Bit of an update, this is all the US market GTSs, early 93-95, by color and transmission.

Hey rob, you wouldn’t happen to have that for ROW cars from 92-95 would you?

Not yet. Total ROW GTS production is roughly 2500 cars, it'll be a while.
