Default Need Radiator help fast!

My 89 radiator failed this weekend and I have removed it. Looks like a loss at this point. I have a good radiator out of my 82 I would like to swap out. Both are automatics. The 82 looks like its was a later replacement. The 82 has no in radiator oil cooler lines even though the Radiator has the oil cooler on the driver side. ( it is capped off at present)

Does anyone know if I would have a problem swapping these out? The PET manual shows a different part number for a 82 and a 89 but like I said ...this may be a later replacement.

Dean,
You should be good to go with no problem.
What is the part number of the one in the 82 and I will check it out for you.
Part number should be a green sticker on the bottom.

Hi Roger,
The part number is 928-106-040-02. I checked the PET and that is the correct rad for the 82 even though the rad looks much newer and the green part number sticker is in VERY NICE shape....no grime. The only visual difference I see in the 2 is the 82 model side tanks have a lip that holds the bottom fan shroud on where as the 89 rad has no lip...the shroud is one pc. Other than that they LOOK and measure the same.

I just want to be SURE.....If theres a chance this will cause problems I will bite the bullet and order a replacement.

By lip - do you mean a hook half way down the side of each plastic tank.
If so just dremel that OFF.

different radiator lacks the attachment points for the later fan schroud... Only our alloy radiator has the dual fit attachments for BOTH 78-86 AND 87 >

Jim,
Can you elaborate further please - what are the later attachement points?
Arn't they the ones that you chop of the alloy rad to allow fitment of the later shroud?

Roger and Jim,
My early fan shroud attached at the bottom with 2 ties through 2 holes in the shroud and rad.....the new lower fan shroud has 2 tabs that slide in 2 slots in the newer rad. The top looks like they both attach the same.....Is that the only difference???? If so I am sure I can make this work.

Core is the problem...The tabs are already showing cracks so I am sure one more bend and they are history.

Dean,
Do not throw away the core because of the tabs.
I have a new product coming out to overcome that problem 8>)
