Default Help with CD 2 Radio

I have a Blaupunkt CD 2 radio that I'd like to be able to use in my '94 GTS. They were an option in that year. Problem is, I don't have a code or the original instruction manual.
Does ANYONE have such a manual that they could scan for me (or sell???). I have a potential source for code help, but need some info from the manual first.

Thanks,

Gary Knox

If Tom doesn't have a spare manual I can scan mine, just let me know.

FYI, the radio was made by Alpine and parts are NLA so be gentle and take care of it!

Gary,
I also have the CD-2 unit and can scan the owners manual if you can't acquire an original.

As Afshin noted, the CD-2 was made by Alpine. Not sure when they were introduced but my '89 came with one... even though the listed option code (691) is supposedly for the "CD-1 with radio".

FYI, I shipped mine back to Alpine's service dept. back in 2003 because it wouldn't play any CDs, just kept ejecting 'em. Not only did they fix that, but they also fixed the LCD display, which had gone dark on one side... and they installed another set of anti-theft brackets. I had taken the originals off before shipping as a precaution that they wouldn't go missing.
Cost me $70, plus shipping to Alpine. They paid UPS return shipping. Very satisfied!

They probably can help you find the code for your unit via the serial number.

Not sure if it's still current, but the contact info on my '03 receipt is:
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.
Phone: 310-326-8000

Gary (or any one else),
I have a number of these units that are no good for various reasons. They could be useful for spares in the future.
My last attempt at getting any of them fixed resulted in a negative response from Alpine or any of the repair companies. Spare parts was the issue.
I changed to another Alpine unit that was an option on the 94 GTS. It is redily available and repairable.
Can't remember the number off hand but will look it up if anyone is interested.

Jeff you're lucky! I was able to find a used CD-2 in proper working condition but the LCD is only 98% perfect. I saved my old CD-2 which has the typical non op CD player and lcd that can't be read.

Would be nice if we could source someone that can repair electronics and have all these players repaired.

FYI, anyone looking can find them ocassionally on ebay, prices can shoot up quick depending on who's watching.

Mine worked fine when I pulled it, but I don't have the manual for it. I'd be grateful for a scan of the owner's manual if that's in the cards......

Rog, was that '94 GTS Alpine unit a direct swap for the CD-2?

Yeah I guess I did get lucky... apparently they still had a few spare parts left back in '03.
Don't know if there's any independent electronics wizards out there fixin' up the old school gear or not. It's probably just not worth it.

GREAT INFO! My '88 has that stereo and it is doing the SAME EXACT THING! I will probably see about getting it fixed if that is all the money it costs. I would prefer to keep it all stock...

James, I don't know if Alpine is still able to repair them or not... Roger noted that spare parts weren't available.
Certainly can't hurt to ask though!

Yea, I saw Rog's post after I responded. Hope they can...would be nice to keep that one and the '94 pretty much stock and fully functional (though the '88 does have an RMB and heavy frt sway bar...yes, I DID break the mounts AT LEAST ONCE!)...

I suppose at the very least keep them easy to return to stock...so maybe get a new stereo... something w/ iPod integration would be nice.

Thanks all.

Hey, has anyone had good luck w/ a pop out screen style DVD/CD/GPS stereo in an S4? If I do replace it I would prefer to just go all out and have a pop out screen bad boy in the car.

Thanks to all of your for your offers. I've responded to Tom F about scanning or loaning the manual.

Roger, depending on the outcome of the code search, et al, I may be inquiring about a radio for parts.

Thanks again guys,

A bit OT...

Anyone put a touch screen style DVD/CD/GPS/etc. type of stereo in a 928? Just wondering what will fit in my '84 S (US spec)...
